Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, I'm a yoga instructor armed with a yoga mat, a laptop, and a dream.
When I first traded in the sequins and spotlight of my musical theater career for leggings and a yoga mat, I found that the yoga world wasn't exactly what I had imagined. I thought it would be easy to find my balance as an instructor and a student. I thought that the situations I would encounter would be thoughtfully addressed and handled with grace. I thought that as long as I showed up to serve, students would show up to practice.
In year two of teaching, I was one step away from becoming a crazy, burnt out yoga instructor, and was desperately seeking inspiration. Somewhere, someone must be working to inspire and help the teachers that are trying to share the practice with the people that need it, right?
So, I set off on a hunt to find a space online that would light my yoga fire once again and couldn't find a thing... mind you, it was 2013 and there weren't a ton of options.
I'm a big believer that if you're looking for something in the world and can't find it, it's up to you to create what you're looking for, so I did. And, now I couldn't imagine my life without this space and this incredible community of yoga students and teachers.
"I know that if we empower yoga teachers in what they do and what each individual can bring to the table, we can grow thriving yoga communities, and get even more people on their mats and improving their lives. "
No matter what obstacle you think you are facing in your yoga career, it's all fixable. Too many instructors, give up or quit completely, leaving behind a practice that at one time brought them balance, peace, and healing.
Being a yoga instructor is the BEST job in the world. There is nothing better than seeing people work for something greater in their lives and in their health.
If you are an inspiring yoga instructor, but feel overwhelmed, or completely disengaged from the business side of what you do, it's time to take back your power and stand in your greatness.
My dream is that everyone gets their dream. Every studio would thrive if they had yoga professionals teaching their classes instead of yoga teachers, which brings me to you...
If you are a yoga teacher, you own a yoga business.
You can either work on your business, nurture it, ignore it, or groan about it.
And, this is a business, too. We sell things. I'm proud of the products produced by Meet Me on Your Mat and I'm grateful to earn a living doing this work. But know, that most of the offerings that come from Meet Me on Your Mat are completely free of charge. You will never have to pay to enjoy the blog posts, videos, community groups, or MMOYM Insider posts.
I don't have all of the answers. I will never be your guru. But, I can help. I can help you not only create deeper connections with your community, but become attuned to how to continue your growth as a yoga instructor and a business owner. I can help you get the workshop you've always dreamed of creating become a reality. I can help you to start running your business in a way that is exciting instead of overwhelming.
If you read this far, thank you for your time. I'm thrilled we're connected and I look forward to all of the yoga and good times ahead.
